Ask Annabel ~ German Pinschers!

Today's Ask Annabel featured dog is the German Pinscher!

#1. "The German Pinscher, also called the Standard Pinscher, is a medium-sized, tall terrier."
#2. "The head is shaped like a blunt wedge and the nose and lips are black."
#3. "The oval eyes are medium in shape."
#4. "The symmetrical ears are either cropped or kept natural. When they're cropped they stand erect."
#5. "The strong, smooth, glossy coat comes in red fawn, black and tan, and dark brown with yellow markings. Black with tan markings is the most common."
#6. "The German Pinscher can be an ideal companion dog."
#7. "This rare breed is brave, not squeamish, sober, and had considerable stamina."
#8. "It is lovely but not docile, quite versatile, and a vocal guard dog."
#9. "It responds to obedience training."
#10. "If they sense the humans around them are meek or passive they will become bull headed and stubborn."
#11. "They need to clearly know who's boss."
#12. "This breed only barks when it feels it is necessary, which may be often. Visitors will be announced with loud barking but then things usually calm down quickly. If the dog does not stop barking owners need to tell the dog that enough is enough and to quiet down."
#13. "If thy think their humans are in trouble they will instinctively protect and will bite first without thinking about it."
#14. "German Pinschers are loyal and protective."
#15. "They will defend their territory, handler, and the family to the end against those intent upon harm."
#16. "They are ratters and when outdoors they will chase a cat, possibly hurting it."
#17. "Height: 16-19 inches (41-48 cm.)"
#18. "Weight: 25-35 pounds (11-16 kg.)"
#19. "The German Pinscher will do okay in an apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. They should have a tight fenced in yard. This breed will run off chasing anything that moves quickly."
#20. "Life Expectancy: About 12-14 years."
